New I Love Juice Bar Franchise Combines Health and History
Spring Hill, Tennessee, franchise owner Shelby Benedict is ready to open new I Love Juice Bar in famous historic home
I Love Juice Bar franchise owner Shelby Benedict is ready to bring a healthy alternative to her Spring Hill, Tennessee, community. In this small city that grew very quickly, it’s easy to get a cheeseburger and fried chicken, but if you want something healthy and fast, it is “slim pickings,” Shelby says.
With a strong customer service background and flourishing entrepreneurial spirit, Shelby is combining her many talents to open what she calls a “destination” business. Customers can still swing by and pick up a smoothie or juice on the run, but they will also be able take advantage of the new location’s outdoor area to sit awhile, she says.
The new I Love Juice Bar will be in Spring Hill’s famous The Kissing House, a historic property known for its unique architecture as well as its history. While work is underway at the house with an estimated September opening, Shelby hopes to turn the historic home into a mindful, peaceful retreat for the health-conscious who might want to slow down a bit and maybe hear live music.
“What I love about the I Love Juice Bar business is that it has a culture all its own,” Shelby says. “Customers like my husband become regulars after the first visit. I want to piggyback on that feeling of health-mindedness and create a place that offers great and healthful products, as well as a great location. Choosing to be healthy brings others who want to do the same.”
Shelby always wanted to own her own business, but she wanted something that had a proven track record. She also wanted her work to foster a positive and healthy environment. Her husband, Bill Benedict, was a loyal customer at the Brentwood, Tennessee, I Love Juice Bar, and it got them both thinking that Spring Hill didn’t offer this kind of healthy alternative.
“Every single time I walk into one of the juice bars, I come out with a bigger smile on my face,” Shelby says. “I want every day to feel like that.”
She and Bill bought their I Love Juice franchise in December, but they took their time finding the right location. Shelby didn’t want just any commercial space. “I wanted something with personality and culture,” she says.
That’s when she realized she had been driving by the right spot for a while, she says. “I take a shortcut through town that passes right by The Kissing House, and I had seen it for sale. It hit me that it would be the perfect location.”
Registered historic home turns I Love Juice Bar franchise
The Kissing House was built in the late 1800s and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its name is based on the story of a Spring Hill woman, Sara Odit, who was engaged to be married to a Nashville man. It turns out that the man was involved with several women, and a newspaper story revealed that he was actually married to a woman in Nashville. Sara sued the man for breach of promise, one of the first lawsuits of its kind, and she won. Sara used the settlement to buy the house.
“I think people will be excited to have the opportunity to come to The Kissing House,” Shelby says. “I think even Sara would like it.”
