I Love Juice Bar Franchise Review: Scott Tashie
Memphis franchisee’s first year exceeds expectations
It’s been an amazing first year of franchising with I Love Juice Bar for Memphis store owner Scott Tashie. Scott’s I Love Juice Bar franchise opened in Midtown in a renovated 100-year-old building, with exposed wood beam ceilings and a covered patio. In just 12 months, this I Love Juice Bar franchise has exceeded all of Scott’s expectations and has become a beloved hangout in the community.
“We have a great menu, a great atmosphere and a very chic, cool look,” Scott said. “We know our regulars. We are friendly and treat them well, really caring about how they’re doing when we ask.”
A Memphis native, Scott spent years away from Tennessee — first attending college in Colorado and then later playing professional golf. That’s when he discovered juicing. While in California, he realized that juicing was “an easy way to get your fruits and vegetables and it tasted really good.”
When injuries took Scott out of the golf game, he returned to Memphis, he got involved with an existing juice bar and decided he wanted to grow in the juicing industry. Soon thereafter, he met John and Vui Hunt, founders of I Love Juice Bar, as their first stores in Nashville were just getting started.
“They’re just great people, very creative,” Scott said. “I loved the brand — everything from the decor to the menu. It’s simple, easy, and not overwhelming, but it covers all the basics, which is unique for a healthy concept.”
Scott’s first year in business has exceeded his expectations, and he can’t point to just one reason for his success. “Our sales have gone up from the day we opened and continue to go up daily, We do great marketing and are always trying to figure out more ways to bring in new customers and reach new people. We do a lot with the community and have created a base of loyal regulars,” Scott said.
Consistency is also key to delivering a high quality product that keeps customers returning. I Love Juice Bar excels at this. Scott explains, “I Love Juice Bar makes sure that we get all the tools we need to make a consistent product each day — a really important reason we’re successful. People who come in everyday want the same green juice they had yesterday. They get familiar with it, and that’s what they want. Just like when you go to Starbucks for your favorite hazelnut, mocha latte. You know how it’s supposed to taste and if it tastes differently, you know immediately.”
Scott is excited to keep growing within the $5 billion a year juicing industry. He has plans to open a second I Love Juice Bar franchise in 2017. He says he can’t think of any other way he’d like to earn a living.
“It’s an amazing business interacting with customers who are happy and smiling, listening to good music, making smoothies and juices and serving delicious food,” Scott says. “It’s a rewarding experience and such a fun way to make money.”
